Chris Black

Chris Black is the CEO of GridX. He leads the organization in its commitment to partner with utilities and energy providers to transform their business and accelerate the clean energy transition. Over his 25 year career, Chris has founded and/or grown numerous software companies. Notably, he was CTO and COO of Tendril, a pioneer in the home energy management space. While there he led an aggressive strategy to acquire five leading companies and form a new entity called Uplight, which is now valued at over $1.5 billion. He has also been an investor in the energy space and held senior-level positions at multiple other software technology companies. Chris is passionate about team culture, technology impact, and sustainability and how these elements can work together to accomplish something truly grand.
